Look What They Did to Our Country

Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 02:25:23 PM PDT

On March 19 of this year, I joined in at a peace rally and march in downtown Chicago.  At the rally, I briefly met a woman who was handing out CD's of one of her songs.  I asked her for permission to share it with you.

She cheerfully gave that permission.

From that, I created the slideshow "Empty Boots."  The woman, Carol Williams wrote to tell me that she liked the results, and offered to send me more CD's.

As I listened to the song "Look What They Did to Our Country," I saw a slideshow in my mind.  Join me over the jump to see if I achieved it.

Look What They Did to Our Country

Besides this slideshow, I created another on Saturday.  The song is about her daughter, and celebrates the diversity of America.  The song is "My Little American."

I put together this slideshow mostly using photos I grabbed online.  But I want to re-create it with pictures you provide.  Carol is going to send photos of her Little American - won't you send some of yours - your kids, grandkids, nieces or nephews?  I want a beautiful video filled with diversity - and your Little American will help it become that.

Here is My Little American in its yet-to-be-updated form - and thank you to the Kossacks who provided photos for this version, or who have sent photos since I put this together.

Finally, Empty Boots.  Well.  When I went to see Eyes Wide Open on Memorial Day weekend last year, it struck me deeply, and I took many photos (shock, huh?)  I used those photos to create the slideshow for Carol's haunting song about the same event.

I hope you enjoy these.  If you do, please take a second to rate them or add a comment.  (There are lots of views, but not so many ratings!  I may have more in the future - and will definitely share the Kossack-filled (I HOPE!) version of "My Little American."
